Your mānuka honey questions answered

What makes Naki Mānuka Honey different from other honey?

Naki is not ordinary honey — it’s wild, potent, and uncompromising. Our bees forage exclusively on native mānuka blossoms that bloom for just a few short weeks each year in the volcanic soils of Taranaki, New Zealand. Every jar is single-source and UMF™ certified, reflecting the land, the season, and the care behind its creation. The result is a dark, silky honey rich in naturally occurring compounds like MGO (methylglyoxal) and DHA, known for their powerful antibacterial and healing properties.

What does UMF™ mean and why is it important?

UMF™ (Unique Mānuka Factor) is the globally recognised grading system that guarantees the purity and potency of genuine mānuka honey from New Zealand. It measures key natural markers — including MGO, DHA, and Leptosperin — that confirm authenticity and strength. Naki’s UMF™ certification means your honey is lab-tested, traceable, and meets the highest industry standards for quality and integrity.

Is your mānuka honey raw and unpasteurised?

Absolutely. Naki honey is raw, unblended, and unpasteurised — just as nature intended. We never heat or filter our honey excessively, preserving its natural enzymes, pollen, and nutrients. Each jar captures the wild essence of Taranaki’s mānuka blooms, unaltered and full of life.

What UMF™ strength should I choose?

The higher the UMF™ rating, the stronger the concentration of beneficial compounds.

  • UMF™ 10+ to 15+: Ideal for daily wellness and general immune support.
  • UMF™ 20+ and above: Recommended for targeted use, such as skincare or digestive health.

Whichever you choose, you’re getting pure, high-grade mānuka honey from our Taranaki hives.

Where is Naki Mānuka Honey produced?

Our honey is harvested on the remote slopes of Taranaki, New Zealand — a place where volcanic soil and wild mānuka flourish side by side. We manage every stage of production ourselves, from caring for the hives to extracting, testing, and bottling each batch. No middlemen. No mass production. Just pure mānuka, gathered from the mountainside.
